'PLAYING WITH THE REMAINS OF RICHARD'

'PLAYING WITH THE REMAINS OF RICHARD' THIS IS A WORK BY CHLOE ROSE WILTSHIRE WHICH STARTED AS A POST APOCALYPTIC DIORAMA OF A DYSTOPIAN LANDSCAPE CONSISTING OF DISMEMBERED PLASTER CAST DOLL PARTS, MODEL RAILWAYS & MINIATURE TRAIN SET ACCESSORIES. THE PIECE WAS CREATED TO RESPOND TO 'THE PSYCHOANALYSIS OF A TEN-YEAR-OLD BOY', A CASE STUDY BY MELANIE KLEIN. CHLOE NAMED THE WORK 'RICHARD' AFTER THE BOY WHO WAS ANALYSED IN KLEIN'S STUDY. THE DISMANTLING OF 'RICHARD' IS FUNDAMENTAL AS IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THIS INSTALLATION IS MADE FROM THE REMAINS OF THE PREVIOUS WORK OF CHLOE'S, 'RICHARD', AND IS HER OWN INTERPRETATION OF PLAY AND PLAY THERAPY, THEREFORE, 'PLAYING WITH THE REMAINS OF RICHARD'. HER EXPLICIT MANIPULATION OF THE PREVIOUS WORK, ALONG WITH THE ACTIVE DESTRUCTION IN REGARDS TO PLAY IS INSTRUMENTAL. NOTABLY, THIS INSTALLATION HAS BEEN CREATED AS AN EXPERIENTIAL ENVIRONMENT FOR THE VEIWER TO PLAY. ALSO HOW CHLOE HAS PLAYED WITH THE PIECES IN THE TRANSFERENCE FROM DEBRIS TO SCULPTURE. CHLOE HAS ACTIVELY CONCEPTUALLY TRANSFORMED THESIS BY DONALD WINNICOTT & KAREN HORNEY INTO UNIQUE, SCULPTURAL RESPONSES. CHLOE IS PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN PLAY THERAPY AND MOTHERING PSYCHOANALYSIS, THESE THEMES HAVE MANIFESTED GREATLY WITHIN HER CURRENT ART WORKS.
