Previously, my work has looked at the 'protector' in a general approach whereby I responded to war, metaphorically using the phallus to represent masculinity, strength and power.
In this next idea I have utilised the idea of the protector, but in a more personal approach. To reinforce the ideas of masculinity, I asked only males in my life who I deem my 'protector' and asked them to draw a childlike drawing of a war scene. These war scenes I translated into sculptures.
The dioramas that these drawings are made on are round, This a consious decision in order to respond to a case study by STELLA VOSNIADOU & WILLIAM F. BREWER about what shape children think the world is. A lot of responses were the ideas that the earth is flat and round.
