'MELANIE'

This body of work is based onthe previously discussed case study by Melanie Klein, 'The Psycho-Analysis of a ten-year-old boy' . Using this Psycho-Analytical study I too explored Sigmund Freud's 'Oedipus Complex' in more of a literal sense although still using model railway trains and disguising the main subject of the peice as part of the landscape itself. This peice especially explores the depth of the physical relationship between two people and the envy displayed by opposing genders of parent and child. Within these series of sculptures, the track could be seen to represent the child. Opposingly, the tracks could be the path/journey a child would take during birth and a more expicit way of suggesting the intimacy prior to the birth between the two parents, which ultimately referes to Sigmund Frued's ' The Five Stages Of A Child's Psychosexual Development'. Underneath the abundance of organic scenary,if noticed at all, is what would be considered to be two provocitively positioned figures, indicitively suggesting the physical relationship between to adults. These figures, which if are discovered at all are easily recognisable as a human form. The forms are hidden in a way much like the subconcious thoughts Frued said children had in reguards to his theory of the 'Oedipus Complex' .
